Tutor Code of Conduct – NextGenBright

1. Introduction

NextGenBright is committed to providing high-quality education through a safe, professional, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

This Tutor Code of Conduct defines the professional standards, responsibilities, and behaviours expected from all tutors, instructors, trainers, and educators providing services through NextGenBright.

All tutors must comply with this Code of Conduct as a condition of providing educational services through the NextGenBright Platform.

Failure to comply with these standards may result in investigation, suspension, or termination of the tutor's access to NextGenBright services.

2. Our Tutor Values

All NextGenBright tutors are expected to demonstrate the following values.

Professionalism

Deliver teaching services with preparation, reliability, integrity, and respect.

Excellence in Teaching

Provide engaging, effective, and student-focused learning experiences.

Respect and Inclusion

Treat every student fairly and respectfully, regardless of background, ability, age, or learning needs.

Responsibility

Take ownership of lesson quality, communication, professional conduct, and student wellbeing.

Integrity

Maintain honesty, confidentiality, and ethical teaching practices.

3. Tutor Responsibilities

Tutors must:

  • Deliver lessons professionally and effectively.

  • Prepare appropriate learning materials and lesson plans.

  • Provide accurate and appropriate subject knowledge.

  • Support students according to their agreed learning objectives.

  • Encourage student participation and confidence.

  • Provide constructive and appropriate feedback.

  • Maintain accurate lesson records where required.

  • Communicate professionally with students, parents/guardians, and NextGenBright staff.

Tutors should adapt their teaching methods according to:

  • Student age

  • Academic level

  • Learning style

  • Individual requirements

  • Agreed learning objectives

4. Professional Conduct

Tutors must maintain high professional standards at all times.

Tutors Must:

  • Be punctual and reliable.

  • Attend lessons prepared.

  • Communicate respectfully.

  • Maintain appropriate teacher-student boundaries.

  • Create a positive and supportive learning atmosphere.

  • Treat students with patience and understanding.

Tutors Must Not:

  • Use inappropriate or offensive language.

  • Humiliate, intimidate, or embarrass students.

  • Discriminate against any student.

  • Engage in arguments or confrontational behaviour.

  • Use teaching sessions for personal, political, religious, or commercial promotion unrelated to the agreed educational service.

5. Safeguarding Responsibilities

Student safety and wellbeing are a priority at NextGenBright.

Tutors working with students, particularly those under the age of 18, must:

  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times.

  • Communicate through approved NextGenBright channels where applicable.

  • Report safeguarding concerns promptly.

  • Follow NextGenBright safeguarding procedures.

  • Act appropriately in the best interests of the student.

Tutors Must Not:

  • Engage in inappropriate personal or romantic relationships with students.

  • Request unnecessary private contact details from students.

  • Communicate privately outside approved channels without appropriate authorization.

  • Arrange independent lessons with NextGenBright students without approval.

  • Share personal social media accounts with students.

  • Conduct inappropriate conversations or interactions.

Any suspected safeguarding concern must be reported to NextGenBright as soon as possible through the appropriate reporting channel.

6. Online Teaching Standards

As NextGenBright provides online education, tutors must maintain a professional and appropriate digital teaching environment.

Tutors must:

  • Use a suitable and professional teaching environment.

  • Maintain a reliable internet connection where reasonably possible.

  • Use appropriate and functioning teaching equipment.

  • Test technology before lessons where practical.

  • Use professional video, audio, and communication settings.

  • Protect student privacy during online sessions.

Tutors must not:

  • Record lessons without appropriate authorization.

  • Share student recordings or screenshots without permission.

  • Display inappropriate content during lessons.

  • Allow unauthorized individuals to join sessions.

  • Use the teaching environment for inappropriate or unrelated activities.

7. Student Respect and Inclusion

Tutors must provide equal and respectful learning opportunities for all students.

Tutors should:

  • Encourage student confidence and participation.

  • Recognize individual learning differences.

  • Provide supportive and constructive feedback.

  • Adapt teaching approaches where reasonably appropriate.

  • Avoid assumptions about a student's ability or background.

Tutors must not:

  • Discriminate based on race, sex, gender, disability, nationality, religion, or personal background.

  • Make offensive, degrading, or discriminatory comments.

  • Treat students unfairly.

  • Discourage students from learning or participating.

  • Engage in bullying, harassment, or intimidation.

8. Lesson Preparation and Delivery

Tutors are responsible for delivering structured, appropriate, and meaningful lessons.

Tutors should:

  • Review student requirements before lessons.

  • Prepare appropriate teaching materials.

  • Set clear learning objectives.

  • Monitor student progress.

  • Provide suitable explanations and examples.

  • Encourage independent learning skills.

  • Adapt lessons where reasonably necessary to support student needs.

Tutors should inform NextGenBright if:

  • A student requires additional support.

  • Agreed learning objectives need adjustment.

  • Significant progress concerns are identified.

  • There are circumstances that may affect the quality or continuity of lessons.

9. Communication Standards

All communication with students and parents/guardians must remain professional and appropriate.

Tutors must:

  • Respond politely and appropriately.

  • Provide constructive feedback.

  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Communicate through approved NextGenBright systems where required.

  • Keep communications relevant to the student's education and legitimate service matters.

Tutors must not:

  • Discuss personal matters unnecessarily.

  • Share private contact information without appropriate approval.

  • Communicate outside agreed educational purposes.

  • Request direct payments from students.

  • Encourage students to bypass NextGenBright's systems or policies.

10. Confidentiality and Data Protection

Tutors may have access to confidential student information in connection with their work.

Tutors must:

  • Protect student personal information.

  • Use personal information only for legitimate educational or service-related purposes.

  • Follow applicable UK data protection requirements.

  • Keep student records and information secure.

  • Only access information necessary for their role.

Tutors must not:

  • Share student information with unauthorized third parties.

  • Publish student work, photographs, recordings, or images without appropriate permission.

  • Use student information for personal benefit.

  • Retain or copy confidential information unnecessarily.

11. Intellectual Property

Materials created by NextGenBright or provided through the Platform may be protected by intellectual property rights.

Tutors must not, without appropriate permission:

  • Copy or distribute NextGenBright proprietary materials.

  • Share paid course content outside the Platform.

  • Sell or commercially exploit NextGenBright resources.

  • Use NextGenBright proprietary resources for competing services.

  • Remove copyright or ownership notices from protected materials.

Where tutors create original teaching materials, ownership and permitted usage rights will be determined in accordance with the applicable Tutor Agreement or other written agreement with NextGenBright.

12. Professional Qualifications and Accuracy

Tutors must provide accurate information regarding:

  • Qualifications

  • Teaching experience

  • Subject expertise

  • Professional background

  • Relevant professional certifications or registrations, where applicable

Tutors must:

  • Maintain appropriate knowledge of the subjects they teach.

  • Avoid providing inaccurate or misleading information.

  • Notify NextGenBright of significant changes affecting their qualifications or ability to teach.

  • Provide requested documentation where reasonably required for verification.

Providing false, misleading, or materially incomplete information may result in removal from the Platform.

13. Attendance and Reliability

Tutors are expected to provide reliable and consistent teaching services.

Tutors must:

  • Attend confirmed lessons on time.

  • Be prepared to deliver the scheduled lesson.

  • Provide reasonable notice if they are unavailable.

  • Avoid unnecessary or repeated cancellations.

  • Support continuity of student learning.

Repeated missed sessions, excessive cancellations, or poor reliability may affect a tutor's status with NextGenBright.

14. Prohibited Activities

Tutors must not:

  • Request direct payments from NextGenBright students.

  • Attempt to move students to external platforms without permission.

  • Promote competing services to NextGenBright students.

  • Share inappropriate or harmful content.

  • Engage in harassment, bullying, discrimination, or intimidation.

  • Misrepresent qualifications or experience.

  • Breach student confidentiality.

  • Abuse or misuse access to student information.

  • Attempt to circumvent NextGenBright policies or security controls.

  • Engage in conduct that could reasonably compromise student safety or trust.

15. Complaints and Investigations

NextGenBright takes concerns regarding tutor conduct seriously.

Where a concern or complaint is raised:

  • NextGenBright may investigate the matter.

  • Tutors may be asked to provide relevant information or documentation.

  • Relevant parties may be contacted where appropriate.

  • Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.

Depending on the nature and seriousness of the matter, actions may include:

  • Guidance or additional training.

  • Formal warning.

  • Additional monitoring or conditions.

  • Temporary suspension.

  • Removal from the Platform.

  • Termination of the tutor relationship.

Where appropriate, serious concerns may also be referred to relevant authorities or handled in accordance with applicable legal or safeguarding requirements.

16. Tutor Commitment

By providing educational services through NextGenBright, tutors agree to:

  • Put student wellbeing and safety first.

  • Maintain professional standards.

  • Deliver high-quality and appropriate education.

  • Treat students fairly and respectfully.

  • Protect student confidentiality.

  • Follow applicable safeguarding requirements.

  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries.

  • Represent NextGenBright professionally.

  • Comply with applicable NextGenBright policies and agreements.
